4-H Ontario and Market Fresh Announce Give-At-The-Till Program
(Posted March 3, 2017)
Rockwood, Ontario (March 3, 2017) — 4-H Ontario and Wellington 4-H Association are teaming up with Market Fresh Gourmet Grocery in Guelph from March 4-11, 2017 to fundraise for local 4-H initiatives.
During this time, at the time of checkout, cashiers will ask grocery store patrons if they would like to make a donation to 4-H and receive a clover to sign and display in the store. 4-H Ontario signage and banners will be displayed throughout the store for the duration and Wellington 4-H will have a table to recruit new volunteers and members.
The hope has been to expand the 4-H program in Wellington County and to grow the urban offerings of 4-H as well. Funds raised from the Give-At-The-Till Program will be
reinvested into the urban portion of the program to provide seed money to help leaders to get those programs going says Ian Cook, President, Wellington 4-H Association.
“We are excited about this happening in Guelph and are looking forward to the success of the event,” says Cook. “We’ve really wanted to expand membership and offerings in Wellington County, so this is a great opportunity to do just that and get some more kids and hopefully more leaders involved too.”
A 4-H booth will be set up at the Market Fresh store located at 10 Paisley Street, Guelph, Ontario, where 4-H staff, members and volunteers will be available to speak about the 4-H program and this initiative. While the event will be taking place all day during Market Fresh business hours from March 4-11, the booth will be occupied during the hours of:
- Saturday, March 4: 11am-4pm
- Sunday, March 5: 11am-4pm
- Tuesday, March 7: 3pm-6pm
- Wednesday, March 8: 3pm-6pm
- Thursday, March 9: 3pm-6pm
- Saturday, March 11: 11am-4pm
“I have fond memories of my time as a 4-H member myself and was excited to be able to partner with the organization on this initiative,” says Dayle Toscan, Owner, Market Fresh. “The Give-At-The-Till Program is a great opportunity for Market Fresh to be involved in the community and we look forward to welcoming 4-H into our store for the next week.”
4-H Ontario is excited for this pilot and hopes to share other “Giving-At-The-Till” fundraising opportunities with local associations across the province in the future.
