Giles Hume 4-H Ontario Centennial Award

Recognizing leadership and dedication to community betterment, and established in the summer of 2015 in honour of the 100 year anniversary of 4-H in Ontario, this award of $2,000 will be granted to a recipient to assist with their post-secondary education as recognition of excellence in 4-H and their home community. 

ELIGIBIILTY

Any 4-H Ontario member who is in good standing, paid their membership fee the year the award will be given and is enrolled in at least one club at the time of the application is eligible to apply. The youth must also have been a 4-H member in the previous year and have completed at least one club that year. 

Young people who have applied for post-secondary training to begin in the fall of that year are eligible. Documentation required to verify this would be a copy of acceptance which outlines the field of study, school and program. “Post-secondary school” in this instance is deemed as a college diploma, post-secondary certificate program (minimum one year in length) or university degree in any field of study. 

SUBMISSION PROCESS

Youth members must submit a 500 word typed letter application or video completed by the member themselves. Letter/Video must outline: 

A) Their dedication, determination and passion to 4-H and their home community and what will be involved in their pursuit of post-secondary education.

B) Demonstrated leadership skills (via a recommendation letter from a 4-H volunteer who is not a relative)

C) Community involvement via a personal reference letter from an adult (not a relative) in their home community

D) Provide documentation to verify acceptance which outlines the field of study, school and program.

Submissions deadline is Friday June 30, 2017.

SELECTION PROCESS

Recipient will be chosen through a three person selection committee.
