On Friday, September 25, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers began a national strike that could have an impact on your generous support of 4-H Ontario’s work during the upcoming holiday giving season.
While the duration of the strike is uncertain, we have provided some information below about how this will impact our work and how you partner with us.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email us at giving@4-hontario.ca or fundraising@4-hontario.ca or call 519-504-6223 or 226-343-0461. We would be happy to assist you.
Your support is more important than ever. Thank you for your patience during this time.
FAQs
How will the strike impact my support for 4-H Ontario?
The current mail service disruption means delays in:
- 4-H Ontario receiving donations sent through the mail including gifts made in memory or in honour of someone.
- Delivery of tax receipts should you want a print copy.
- Delivery of hardcopies of 4-H Ontario resource guides, annual reports etc.
How can I donate during the postal strike?
If you were planning to mail in a donation, we hope that you will consider an alternate option. This will allow us to continue providing youth with the resources and opportunities to develop into responsible, contributing land caring leaders without interruption.
There are a few options for you to consider:
- Donate online and receive your tax receipt by email.
- You can donate by phone at 519-504-6223 or 226-343-0461. We are available to take donations from 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday.
- You can email giving@4-hontario.ca or fundraising@4-hontario.ca and we will be happy to help you.
What if I’ve already mailed in a donation?
Thank you very much for supporting 4-H Ontario and youth across the province. There may be a delay in acknowledging your gift, but rest assured we will receive it once mail is delivered again. If you want a hard copy of your receipt, please be patient and we will send it to you as soon as is possible.
How will this impact tax receipts?
- If you made a gift online of $20 or more, you will receive an email with your tax receipt at the time of donation.
- Tax receipts for monthly donations will be sent as usual in February via your preferred method (email or mail). At this time, we don’t see the strike having an impact on this.
What happens when the postal service resumes?
When postal service resumes, Canada Post will be working through a backlog which could take some time to sort out. Rest assured we will issue tax receipts and put them in the mail as soon as possible.
