In 2025, 4-H Ontario developed an I.D.E.A (Inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility) Committee. The purpose of the committee is to consult youth and volunteers regarding direction and recommendation in building an organizational culture of inclusion, diversity, equality and accessibility with seamless respect and optimism. The IDEA working group is divided into the following four sub-committees that will each focus on specific goals related to inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility within 4-H. As the subcommittees begin working together, their findings and feedback will shared on this page.
Best Practices
To gather inside and outside the organization and to ensure that the goals and needs of the organization are being met through an IDEA lens.
Trade Shows and Promotions
The goal is to ensure 4-H’s promotion and outreach strategy is reflective of 4-H’s commitment to inclusion. The committee will consider ways to build relationships with underrepresented communities and leveraging trade shows and other promotional tools to implement the strategy.
Youth Voice
For youth only, the group will meet to provide feedback about their 4-H experience and create tools to capture necessary and important feedback from youth participants.
Programming
The group will meet and provide feedback on current programming and looking at the program activities and IDEA training for facilitators and volunteers.
