Cedars, Bridges and Meadows!

On a warm, muggy evening, the 4-H Bike Club met at the parking lot of Orono Crown Lands for our last great ride! One of our leaders, Duncan, scouted out the trails a few days earlier in order to avoid those tall stinging nettles that we encountered last year. We started out in an open meadow track, but were soon enjoying the cool cedar woods and tranquility of the forest. Crossing five wooden bridges was exciting for all offering some challenges riding onto and off of them! A couple of challenging hills made for a great workout testing everyone’s endurance. The loop circled around and ended at a gazebo where we took a break, energized with trail mix and water, and visited a nice butterfly garden. We biked the loop three times in total, and then rode back to the parking lot. After each member picked their favourite ride of the year, they were free to go. The club was a great success and everyone is looking forward to a summer full of riding!
