The third Dufferin dairy meeting was held June 13th, 2012, 7:30PM at El Dorado Dairy (Illick's Farm). Cassie Jones Opened the meeting with the 4-H pledge, followed by Trevor Gansekoele read the Minutes from the previous meeting. Caleigh Van Kampen apoted the Minutes and they were seconded by Sam Kaehli. We all gave a warm 4-H welcome to the new club member Kirsten Chessel. Steve Illick, owner of El Dorado Dairy and Gilt-Edged Farms said how he started his two farming operations and how everyone should pursue their dreams with the right mentality and planning. Mr.Illick let everyone look around the farm and ask any questions that they chose. Shortly after, we judged Jersey heifers. The intermediate and senior members gave reasons on the calf placements. George Van Kampen gave his official placings. The group discussed buying tracksuits to wear to shows, but no decision was made but the topic will be discussed again at the next meeting. On July 7th the Judging and Safety Day will be held at 10AM at the Shelburne Fair grounds. 1st, 2nd,3rd,4th and 5th year members must attend. If you chose not to attend you must create a safety poster (ask your club leaders for more details). The Twilight meeting will take place on July 10th at 10:30 AM at Deakersview On county road 15. The evening meeting starts at 7PM. Dufferin Dairy farmers and industry workers are welcomed.
