(Posted September 24, 2012)

The Durham East 4-H Association's Sheep Club's 2nd meeting was held on Wednesday May 9th, 2012 at welcome Feeds. the meeting started at 7:00 and ended at 9:00p.m. At Welcome Feeds the 4-H members of the sheep Club and their leaders (Jum Coombes and Gwen Breen) first did the 4-H pledge, then Jim Hamilton (the owner of Welcom Feeds) spoke to us about how goats can eat copper and sheep can not, how lambs/sheep need clean water, not pond water and that lambs/sheep need protein and energy. salt blocks can come in different sizes, shapes, flavours and even some other salt blocks are waterproof. Alfafa blocks are made from regular hay made into small blocks for feeding smaller aniamals and to save storage space. If you want a nice show lamb make sure to feed them nice soft hay. To get nice soft hay you need to get the first cut of hay.

Next meeting: Wednesday June 13, 2012 at Neil Allens
