Thank you Colchester Farms!

Essex 4-H - Exchange Club
(Posted July 2, 2012)

On Wed. June 27th the 4-H Exchange Club had our last meeting before we leave for Saskatchewan! Like all meetings, we started off with the 4-H pledge. We received our travel shirts to wear for the exchange, they are lime green! We would like to thank Colchester Farms and Laser Art for generously providing us with our shirts! Anne our wonderful leader asked for volunteers for our bbq, carwash/bake sale at the Essex Home Hardware.

Anne then gave us our travel info for the plane and we discussed things like what to bring, how heavy our bags can be, and proper behaviour. We also looked over a travellers handbook from the Canadian 4-H Council and a booklet from WestJet. Our flight will leave from Windsor airport at 3:55 direct to Calgary, then transfer to Saskatoon.

The secretary report was read by Megan, and the treasurers report was read by Abby. She collected and counted any cheques which had been donated. Altogether we made $521.02 at the flea market at Heritage Village which brings our fundraising total to $2038.00. A special thank you to our generous donors, Margaret Klie, Cheryl and Paul Lowes, Irene and Don Clark, and Barbara and Jack Shuttleworth.

We also discussed our next fundraiser, a blueberry pancake breakfast at Klassen Blueberries on July 21 and 22. Anne talked about ideas for a gift for our host families in Saskatchewan as a thank you! To end our meeting we had watermelon and juice!
