Lakeside Ride

“Car back! CAR BACK!” This was the yell of one of the 4-H Bike Club members during our second meeting on Monday, April 27, 2015 at the Waterfront Trail near Port Darlington Marina. We began our ride at the new playground park and followed the bike trail over the water and continued along the gravel trail beside the river. It was great weather despite a few flies that happened to fly into some of our mouths! We connected onto the picturesque lakeshore roads, admiring some interesting stone houses and wildlife, such as Canada Geese and wild bunnies. One very protective goose guarding her nest took to the road blocking our way with one member dropping their bike and running for dear life! Despite a few accidental detours, members and parents had a really great ride and a lot of fun. At the end of the ride we ate molasses cookies and played on the playground and explored the rocky shore side.
