A Visit to the Local Sew & Craft Store

Essex 4-H - 4-H Quilting Club
(Posted February 29, 2012)

The Members of the 4-H Essex County, Quilting Club, held their first meeting Thursday, January 23rd, 2012 at 6:30pm at Sew & Craft in Essex, led by Leaders Sue Morris and Anne Conrad.

This year's 4-H Quilting Club will be making “flannel square rag quilts”. Members enjoyed picking out material in a variety of prints at the meeting, including solid colours, such as red, brown, blue and purple, as well as heart, flower and animal prints. Christmas prints and cartoon characters were also picked out. Altogether nine meters of fabric are needed, along with 1 meter of batting and notions to piece it together, sew and rag the quilt. We all are looking forward to seeing the completed quilts. Each square from everyone's material will also be sewn together to make a quilt which later will be raffled off as a fundraiser for the club.

A very special THANK YOU to Cheryl Deschamps and Karen Upcott at Sew & Craft in Essex for helping us in selecting items and giving us a discount.
