The York 4-H Plowing Club held their achievement day on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the York Plowing Match located at the Johnson family farm. This meeting was special because two of our members Zoë Ducheck and Samara Aabo, were competing for Princess of the Furrow! The completion is judged by plowing skills, an interview and a speech. Most members of the plowing club attended to cheer on the contestants. The competition started with the plowing. Luckily they were pretty experienced from plowing club. After that we had a lunch break. It was delicious! After that, while the next leg of the competition (interviews) was happening we had a raffle for door prizes. After the raffle was over, it was time for the final part of the competition – speeches. Zoë was up first and wowed the crowed with her speech. Then Samara went and finished with a boom (in good terms). Both Zoë and Samara had wonderful speeches but there is only one winner. Christine Ferguson, our plowing club leader did the honors of announcing the winner. This year’s 2015-2016 York Princess of the Furrow is Zoë Ducheck! After the crowning, we went to the back of the field and closed our meeting with a big thanks to our leaders Christine Ferguson, Ken Ferguson, Brad Hulshof and our youth leader Cassie Ferguson.
