Hand Tool Centers

Submitted by Caitlin Gaudet
Durham East 4-H - Woodworking South
(Posted May 17, 2012)

We had a great Woodworking South club meeting on May 16, 2012. We made groups of four or five, and went around to different centers to look at various hand tools and determined their name and use. Some of the tools included; clamp, center clamp, rubber mallet, screws, hinge, laser level, chisel and T-square. One of the centers was naming different samples of wood and categorizing them into hardwood or softwood. Afterwards, our leaders explained what each tool was and discussed the types of wood. We ate granola bars and rice cakes at the end of the meeting. Everyone had fun and it was a great meeting.
