This 4-H club takes on a learn to do by doing approach through a series of meetings (some with and some without your horse) that will include lessons from the Horse Project Manual, guest speakers, riding clinics, public speaking, judging, exposure to parliamentary procedures etc. We will offer meetings on a variety of days of the week with meetings typically lasting 2 hours. Members will individually complete an age appropriate horse related project (to be decided on during the initial meetings – past projects have included a poster advertising the Horse club and a report on a horse disease of their choice) which will be submitted prior to the Achievement day. Members will also take part in a fundraising BBQ on May 25/25 to help raise funds for their club activities. It is a very interactive club!
Our club year will be wrapped up with an Achievement Day Horse show (tentatively Sept 6/25) where members will participate in a showmanship class (minimum requirement) and have the opportunity to also compete in performance and games classes as well. There will be a yearend awards banquet which is typically held in November.
In order to obtain the club completion, members must attend 2/3 of total meeting time, complete the club project and participate in the Achievement Day horse show.
Please note that this club was formerly located out of Paisley, however, due to the distribution of members and the availability of facilities, we have changed the location so that it is now based out of Teeswater.
