4-H offers a variety of projects in food preparation, food preservation, and nutrition. Essex County 4-H Culinary Club believes that all youth should have opportunities for positive youth development in our four guiding concepts: mastery, belonging, independence, and generosity. This club fosters mastery by learning to read a recipe, a variety of ways to prepare food, the importance of making healthier food choices, how to preserve foods safely, belonging by being part of a club or group, independence by learning skills that can be used throughout life, and generosity by sharing what they learn with others.
