Join the Sault Ste. Marie 4-H Green Thumbs Club and make a real difference in your community!
This summer, you’ll get your hands dirty planting and caring for two garden plots at the Common Grounds community garden, growing fresh food for those in need. Along the way, you’ll learn how pollinators like butterflies and bees help plants grow, why healthy soil matters, and how gardening connects to food security and climate change. You’ll even meet a beekeeper and tour their honeybee operation to see these amazing insects in action!
Through fun, hands-on activities in the Proud to Bee a 4-Her, Digging into Soil, and Food for Thought modules, you’ll discover how small changes can have a big impact. Plus, you’ll celebrate your hard work at two Community Garden Parties—one to kick off the season and one to wrap it up! Whether you love digging in the dirt, helping others, or learning about nature, this is your chance to grow food, friendships, and a greener future.
Each family will be responsible for tending the garden plots for one week during the summer.
