This year our focus will be on the versatility of the potato. We will explore the use of the potato as a side, as a staple in several main dishes, and of course, in baking! We will be learning about the
potato through a uniquely Canadian perspective including a visit with a local potato farming family. Members will also strengthen their judging skills and learn cooking tips and skills along the way.
This will be a hybrid club, with most meetings taking place online. The club will meet on Saturday mornings from 10 – 12 pm on Zoom with two tentative in-person meetings. Tentative dates are March 29, April 12, May 3, 10, and June 7, (14th only if necessary). One of our dates may be on a weekday evening to allow for an in-person tour.
For our achievement, you will be asked to submit a potato-based creation to the Beeton Fair in September. Alternative achievement options available; please speak to Mae/Tamara.
Please note: we will be working toward cooking something that could be eaten for lunch at the end of each club meeting this year. Supervision in the kitchen is required for beginner/ novice chefs.
Club will be capped at 30 members.
