The South Simcoe Sheep Club focuses on learning and improving animal care, husbandry, flock management and showmanship skills within in the sheep industry. Meetings may be held at sheep farms, fairgrounds, sales barns, and other public places.We will have meetings once a month, (tentative dates below). This year the clubs will be split as level 1 and level 2.Level 1 is for those members that are new to sheep up to members that have been in the club for under 4 years. Level 2 is for members that have been in the club for 4 years or greater. Details to follow! When signing up please sign up to the club based on years of club experience.Preparation for showing competitively will still be focused on however, we will be covering management practices, health care, husbandry, equipment and farm setups. We are very excited to be offering this new layout for the South Simcoe sheep project! Everyone is welcome from beginners to seasoned experienced members. For dedicated members, we will be covering new and exciting content! New members, don’t worry, we will start from scratch and build your confidence with sheep.Each member should have access to a lamb to work with for the season. If you do not have access to a lamb, please notify the leaders by email and we will get you organized. Leaders will help you find a lamb to work with.The Achievement Day for this Club is held at the Collingwood GNE Fair in September, where members will show their lambs in the Conformation and Showmanship Classes. (Alternate Achievement Day is at the Barrie Fair in August) Members will need to notify leaders in advance if the alternate achievement day is requiredAdditional fees include any costs to enter fairs and sheep shows, as well as materials used to care for your lamb.If you have an interest in the lamb or sheep industry, ewe will love the Sheep Project! South Simcoe 4-H Association
Sign-Up for South Simcoe 4-H projects will open on February 16th for 2025 registered participants. Registered participants will receive an email from southsimcoe4h@gmail.com with a link to the sign-up form.
Meeting Location
Meetings may be held at sheep farms, fairgrounds, sales barns, and other public places mostly within Simcoe County between Everett, Stayner and Innisfil with the possibility of a few tours.
