York Region Quilt Club 4-H Project

The Quilt Club is pleased to offer credits for two projects in 2025, based on the completion of: 1) a snowball-style quilted pillowcase for entry in the Quilt Canada Stargaze 2025 competition, and 2) a twin-sized quilt in a variation of the log cabin pattern called “Fields and Furrows,” for entry in the Markham Fair.

We are very excited for members to have the opportunity to create something special for their personal use that they can take pride in for years to come.

Members will receive a projects folder, including materials list, at sign-up.
Expenses will include: cotton fabric for top/back/binding, batting (1 bag), thread, quilting pins, clips (optional), thread, a quilting foot for members’ sewing machines, and fabric cutting kit with roller/ruler/mat.
The club will have extra cutting mats, an ironing board and iron, and a quilt assembly/pinning rack available.
All meetings will be held at the Markham Fairgrounds, in the small grey bungalow on the property. Meeting times and dates are as follows:

Saturday, June 7, 2025 – reserved 9:00 AM – 12 noon, if/as needed.

*Please arrive at the first meeting with all material for both projects acquired, pre-washed and ironed if that is your preference, and ready to cut. Required lengths are in the projects folder.  Please also remember to bring a copy of your participant form with you to the first meeting. This information is crucial for the leaders to have on hand and privacy is ensured.

See you soon!

Quilting Project

Experts say the art of quilting is over 5,000 years old. This time-honoured tradition still flourishes today and is one of the best ways to show skill, creativity and planning all at once.
