It's Spring, and with that comes a bright outlook! This month we're sharing some exciting updates on programming and opportunities that have been developed in the last 12 months or so. In addition, it's National Volunteer Week from April 22 to 27, so we're highlighting our shining stars, the volunteers that make up the core of 4-H Ontario's success. Last but not least, we've got a few reminders of key events and changes to contact information for the provincial office. 


Opportunities and accomplishments

4-H ONTARIO HIGHLIGHTS YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS!

4-H Ontario staff has been hard at work developing new programming, enhancing some existing materials and opportunities, and looking ahead for the year to come. We're committed to ensuring you receive the resources and tools you need for your best 4-H experience. 

Club Resources Released in 2012/13:

Opportunity Updates from 2012:
Future Leaders In Action successfully returned in 2012. And for 2012, Youth Adventure Camp was centralized at one location – with transportation provided – and sold out in 2012, with more participants registered than all three locations combined in 2011!

Opportunities Ahead in 2013:
In addition to Dairy Sen$e and Beef Sen$e, both Sheep & Goat Sen$e and Equine Sen$e are being piloted in 2013. Registration information is available by clicking here>. 

In addition, Ignite Leadership, a new program for 17-21 year olds – is being piloted in 2013. Registration has closed, with camp set to run May 23 through 26, at Kettleby Valley in Kettleby, Ontario.

Discovery Days are planned for all regions in 2013, with support if additional days are requested. For more information, please click here>.


Golf Registration Now Open
Support 4-H Ontario programs and opportunities while having some fun on the links! Registration for the annual Ontario 4-H Foundation Golf Tournaments is open. The 2013 Golf-East and Golf-West tournaments take place in Ottawa on June 6, and Guelph on June 20. Registration forms, sponsorship, and additional information is all available here >
Shout Out for Ag
4-H Canada and Farm Credit Canada have teamed up to create the Shout Out for Ag contest for 4-H clubs and members across the country. In a video of 45 seconds or less, give a shout out on why agriculture is important, why you're proud to be a farm kid, or any other ag story! Winning videos will be chosen by votes. Contest closes April 30. More details can be found here>.

April 22 to 27 marks National Volunteer Week in Canada. 4-H Ontario is grateful for the time, energy and devotion of our 1700 volunteers. To every one of you, thank you! It’s a good time to note that Jane Durward, Brenda Dunster, June Switzer, and Lynn Clelland were recognized with Syngenta 4-H Ontario Arbor Awards in March. Congratulations to all!
