Opportunities Everywhere

4-H opportunities pop-up everywhere, often because of dedicated Volunteers, passionate sponsors and 4-H supporters. Grenville Mutual Insurance Scholarship

Grenville Mutual Insurance, a strong 4-H supporter, gives even more to local Region 2 4-H Members with the Grenville Mutual Insurance 4-H Scholarship. One scholarship of $1,500 was awarded to Kelly Ross, a Russell 4-H Member, for her short essay answering “What are your ideas for the future of 4-H and how would you implement your vision?” More about Kelly and Grenville Mutual's contributions to 4-H >

MCYS & 4-H
4-H Ontario partnered with the John Howard Society of the Niagara region to integrate “a taste of 4-H” into the Summer Jobs For Youth (SJFY) programming they provided this past summer. The natural link between 4-H and the Ministry of Children and Youth Services program was an opportunity to provide follow-through support for the youth as they leave SJFY programming. More >
Clover bud Pilots
As 2011 comes to a close 4-H Ontario would like to thank the amazing Volunteers and Members of the 4-H Ontario Clover bud Pilot Program. The pilots were held in four Associations - Grey, York, Parry Sound and Wellington. Heading into 2012, 4-H Ontario will be expanding this pilot project to additional communities across the province, for a maximum of 10 projects. More >
Ambassador Application
The deadline is fast approaching to apply for your next 4-H adventure. 4-H Ontario is looking for its next set of Ambassadors. This opportunity is open to 4-H Members ages 17 - 21 and the deadline for applications is December 31st, 2011. Faith Kirk is the new Coordinator, Volunteer Support - Region 4. Faith lives in Barrie and is excited to work with 4-H Ontario Volunteers. Competition Deadlines
A reminder entries are due by January 6th, 2012 for the 4-H Ontario Scrapbook and Newsletter competitions. Winners are announced at the 2012 4-H Ontario Volunteer Conference and Annual Meeting on March 23.

CIFS Bursary
Partner Message - The Canadian International Farm Show ‘Youth in Agriculture’ bursaries, presented by Master Promotions Ltd., in partnership with the JFAO, is a $2,500 bursary awarded to a student currently in their first year of an agricultural related program at an accredited Canadian university or college. Future Leaders In Action
Future Leaders In Action will be running on March 10-13, 2012. This is a great four day, three night camp for Senior 4-H Members. The leadership training modules will surround facilitation skills, group development and dynamics, teambuilding activities, high ropes courses, group initiatives and more. Register >
