Read on for these fall updates.

4-H in 2013: Getting Ready

A Message from Wraychel Horne, 4-H Ontario's Executive Director:
Dear 4-H Household,

I hope 2012 has become a wonderful 4-H year for you. I am pleased to be sharing in what is becoming a new tradition; the update from the staff looking forward to the upcoming 4-H year. First, my gratitude to every 4-H Volunteer, Member, Alumni, parent, family member, friend, community, sponsor, supporter and industry stakeholder who make up the 4-H family. Collectively, the 4-H family builds community.
2013 is a momentous year for 4-H across Canada as it marks the 100th Anniversary for 4-H nationally.  Look for exciting news and celebrations spearheaded by 4-H Canada. Provincially, Ontario is looking forward to our 100th Anniversary in 2015.  Part of looking forward is planning. Your provincial Board of Directors has approved a strategic plan and an operational plan. Both plans are available on the 4-H Ontario website at 4-HOntario.ca/council. In order for the staff team to serve you and your Board of Directors to represent you, your opinions are vital. Input is always welcome.
As shared in last year’s message, the Ontario 4-H Council Board of Directors passed a motion on July 16, 2011 to ensure the organization’s financial health. Following that motion, a $5 increase to fees will apply in 2013 and 2014, bringing the provincial Membership fee to $70 for 2013.
On January 1, 2012 came the implementation of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). Over the course of the next two-year cycle of Volunteer re-engagement, all Volunteers will receive information about this legislation. The focus of the AODA is to remove and prevent barriers to accessibility for people with disabilities. In compliance with AODA it is important to let you know that the location of the 4-H Ontario office is under construction. EastGen, the facility owners, are building a distribution centre on the premises. Should we have service disruptions, notice will be posted on 4-HOntario.ca and voicemail messages will reflect any closures...

The remainder of Wraychel's message and the full 2013 message, including updates on camps, conferences, Volunteer Symposiums and Volunteer re-engagement, is available here.
