HUGH MITCHELL / WESTERN FAIR ASSOCIATION 4-H ENDOWMENT FUND SCHOLARSHIP

 

Candidates must be 17 years of age but no older than 21 years of age on January 1 of the year of application.

The annual award is a variable amount between $1500 and $2500.00 based on an annual interest earned.

The successful candidate would be exemplary in his/her demonstration of the attributes of the 4-H pledge: I PLEDGE: My HEAD to clearer thinking, My HEART to greater loyalty, My HANDS to larger service, My HEALTH to better living, For my club, my community, my country and my world.

Community Involvement 50%

Academic Record 10%

Work Experience 20%

Middlesex County Women’s Institute Scholarship 2025

Valued at $500

The Middlesex county women’s institute scholarship is valued at $500.00**. You must be planning to enrol at post secondary institution in the fall of 2025. Include a transcript from your school of your grade 12 marks to date. Attach a list from 4-H Ontario of the 4-H clubs that you have completed.

**Please remember when including a letter of reference that your reference may not be a relative of yours. **

Topic for 2025

How can you create zero waste in your community?

Essay worth 20 pts

500 words, 12 pt Font, Double Spaced, pdf file.

2 pts subtracted if word count is outside the stated limits

Content worth 15 pts and writing style worth 5 pts (includes attention to clarity, grammar, punctuation, and spelling)

Scholastic standing worth 20 pts

Up to 70 % = 15 pts 71-75 % = 16 pts 76-80 % = 17 pts 81-85 % = 18 pts 86-90 = 19 pts 90-100% = 20 pts

Extra-curricular Activities 30 pts:

School (Clubs, Bands, Sports, Etc)10pts

Community (church choir, camps, fairs, youth clubs etc.) 10pts

                                                Leadership (playground supervisor, camp counsellor, Sunday school teacher, team captain) 5pts

Family Life (Interests Hobbies and Accomplishments) 5pts

 

4-H Involvement -30pts

# of 4-H projects 1 pt per club to a maximum of 20 points list each club and the year taken

Leadership- youth leader 2 pts

Local activities- 4pts (Club president, achievement nights, demonstrations, skits ect.)

Out of County activities- 4 pts (go for the gold, 4-H exchange, royal winter fair, ect.)

** Prior to the presentation of scholarship funds, proof of attendance at a college or university is required.

Hugh Filson Memorial 4-H Bursary – 2024 Deadline to be Announced Soon!

Who is eligible?

All 4-H members, agricultural and life skills, that participate in a 4-H club which has an achievement day, competition or exhibit at the Ilderton Fair. The IAS will distribute the bursaries between agricultural and life skills participants based on the number of applications from each.

There are 10 bursaries worth $100.

What is the application process?

Application deadline for 2024 will be announced soon. Applicants will receive an email confirmation when their application is received. The committee will meet in January to select the winners. Winners will be informed and invited to the AGM in January (where the winner will be announced). Winners will not be eligible to apply again the following year.
