Livestock

The 4-H livestock program allows youth to develop their skills in many aspects of animal agriculture. Through 4-H club projects and conferences, members learn new skills and real-life responsibility – through raising, showing and judging livestock, which includes: selection, care, and feeding of livestock, animal health, and importance of good record keeping. The 4-H livestock program continues to grow with an emphasis on the traditional and non-traditional projects.

4-H Ontario is a positive youth development organization. As such, our leaders have a duty to care for youth and provide an environment where health and safety is of the utmost importance. The Ontario 4-H Council Board of Directors passed the following motion in March of 2019 stating “4-H Ontario does not endorse the use of any banned substance within livestock shows within the province of Ontario.” We encourage all 4-H’ers to adopt this philosophy in order to protect the health and safety of our young people.
