2023 is the 50th anniversary of Citizenship Congress!

Developed in 1972 as a way to unite 4-H participants from across the country, the 50th iteration of this flagship program is sure to be a celebration of 4-H Canada – past, present, and future.

Citizenship Congress will deepen your understanding of civic engagement, governance and public policy, parliamentary  procedures, citizenship, and politics. This conference creates opportunities for you to network and learn from experts on governance and civic engagement while building your research skills, communication skills, and your knowledge on parliamentary procedure.

Workshops and preparation sessions will culminate with the annual debate where you and your fellow 4-H’ers from across Canada will construct insightful arguments, and practice your skills of persuasion and public speaking. You’ll leave Citizenship Congress having learned more about Canada, its government, and yourself.

In fall 2021, 4-H Ontario offered young people the chance to take part in discussions relating to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). https://sdgs.un.org/goals

We heard from an industry leader about tips and tools you can use to help reach the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), then put that information into practice with a hands-on learning activity.
