Goats are a versatile, wonderful animal that might just have a place on your farm. We want to teach you everything you need to know about their health, happiness and function. You’ll also learn how to show a goat so you can proudly display your hard work.
In this project, you’ll learn:
- How to differentiate the many breeds of goats
- The basics of their health and nutrition
- Useful information about the variety of products goats offer and how to use them
- How to show your goat in competition
The goat industry is a growing industry in Ontario with increasing demand for goat milk, cheese and other dairy goat products as well as chevon (goat meat). This project has full sections on health, nutrition, housing, reproduction & genetics and the business of goat farming including marketing & regulations.
